Description✦
Ninebark 'Cristata' — this is a unique and very distinctive cultivar that you definitely will not confuse with any other thanks to the special shape of its leaves.
The cultivar 'Cristata' is often called the "curly" ninebark. Its main feature is the unusual, strongly corrugated foliage that gives the bush an exotic appearance.
Key characteristics:
- Foliage: The chief adornment of the cultivar. The leaf blade is strongly twisted, wrinkled and curved, which creates a "curly" effect. The colour of the foliage is a rich dark green, which in autumn turns bronze-yellow.
- Dimensions: A fairly large shrub, reaching 1.5–2 m in height and up to 1.5–1.8 m in diameter.
- Crown shape: Upright, compact when young, over time becoming spreading and dense.
- Flowering: In June–July small white-cream inflorescences open, which contrast beautifully with the dark green "curly" foliage.
