Mountain Spiraea

Mountain Spiraea (Spiraea densiflora). This is one of the hardiest spiraeas, prized for its density and rich pink colour.

• Appearance: A compact, very dense shrub up to 60–80 cm in height and width. It has a perfect natural rounded shape.
• Flowering: In June–July it is covered with a large number of small but very dense bright pinkinflorescences.
• Leaves: Dark green in summer, in autumn turning a striking orange-red or golden.
• Light: It flowers best in full sun, but tolerates light partial shade (in shade the shrub becomes loose).
• Soil: It needs moderate moisture. This is one of the few species that tolerates damp sites well.
• Care: Spring pruning (March) to a height of 15–20 cm stimulates lush flowering and renewal of the shrub.
