Mountain Pine 'Pumilio'

A naturally dwarf pine that forms a dense, evergreen carpet or globe.

• Appearance: A slow-growing shrub with a spreading, dense crown. The branches point upwards. Height — up to 1 m, width — up to 2 m.
• Needles: Short (2–4 cm), stiff, of a rich green colour. Gathered in bundles of two.
• Fruit: Small brown cones (up to 4 cm), appearing in the 6th–8th year.
• Conditions: Very light-loving. Absolutely undemanding as to soil: it grows on sand, stones and poor soils. Drought-tolerant.
• Care: Fully frost-hardy. Tolerates urban conditions and pruning well (pinching out the young shoots will make the bush even denser).
