Mountain Pine 'Kostelnicek'

Pinus mugo 'Kostelnicek' — a true gem among dwarf conifers. It is an exceptionally compact cultivar of mountain pine, most often grown precisely in the form of a graft on a standard to emphasise its perfect globe shape.

Key characteristics

• Crown shape: It naturally grows as a very dense, regular globe or slightly flattened sphere. The branches are set very close to one another, creating the effect of a "fluffy" cushion.
• Growth rate: Belongs to the super-dwarfs (miniatures). The annual growth is only 2–3 cm.
• Foliage: Short, dark green, gathered in pairs in a bundle. The foliage is set very densely, which gives the plant a textured look.
• Size: Since the tree is on a 30 cm standard, its height is already fixed by the stem, and the "globe" itself will reach about 25–30 cm in diameter at 10 years of age.
