Eastern Arborvitae 'Jantar'
A bright Polish cultivar that is a golden mutation of the popular 'Smaragd'. It got its name from the unique amber colour of its foliage, which becomes even richer in winter.
Key characteristics:
- Crown shape: Slender, narrowly pyramidal; the branches grow densely, creating an even surface.
- Colour: In summer — bright yellow with a golden sheen; in winter it becomes a warm amber-copper.
- Dimensions: At 10 years of age its height reaches 1.8–2.2 m, with a width of about 60–80 cm.
- Growth: Moderate, adding about 15–20 cm per year.
- Conditions: Needs sunny spots (it turns green in shade) and moist, fertile soil.
- Frost resistance: Very high (down to -30°C); the cultivar is resistant to spring sunscald.
