Rhododendron 'Bengalen'

Rhododendron 'Bengalen' is a compact cultivar from the Repens series, which is ideally suited to small gardens thanks to its restrained growth and vivid appearance.

Key characteristics:

• Flowers: Bell-shaped, of a rich bright red colour. The inflorescences look very lush against the backdrop of the dark foliage.
• Flowering: April to May. It is one of the first to bloom among rhododendrons.
• Size: A low-growing, slow-growing shrub. At 10 years its height is 0.5–0.6 m, width up to 0.8–1 m.
• Foliage: Small, elliptical, dark green, glossy; evergreen.
• Conditions: Requires acidic soil and partial shade. It thrives in spots sheltered from the wind.
• Frost resistance: High (down to -24...-26°C). It needs mulching for the winter.
