Panicle Hydrangea 'Wim's Red'

Panicle hydrangea 'Wim's Red' (Wim's Red) is a true chameleon of the flower world and one of the most popular varieties among gardeners. Its signature feature is an incredible color change throughout the season combined with a very long flowering period.

Key characteristics of the variety

• Color magic: It is one of the earliest to bloom (already by the end of June). The panicles start out gently white, gradually turn pink, and by autumn take on a deep, rich wine-red or burgundy shade, as shown in the photo above.
• Bush shape: The bush is spreading and vigorous, about 1.5–2 meters tall and wide. The shoots are sturdy and dark red, holding the large inflorescences well without bending under rain.
• Inflorescences: Large panicles up to 30–40 cm long, made up of two types of flowers: sterile (large) and fertile (small). This gives the inflorescences a lacy, airy look.
• Fragrance: Unlike many other panicle hydrangeas, 'Wim's Red' has a pleasant, light honey fragrance that attracts bees.
