Magnolia 'Ricki'

Magnolia 'Ricki' - an ornamental deciduous shrub or a compact multi-stemmed tree. Thanks to its later flowering, the cultivar is practically never harmed by repeat spring frosts.

General characteristics

• Crown shape: rounded or broadly conical, spreading, with low-set branches.
• Dimensions: 2.5-3.5 m in height and up to 2.5-3 m in width (annual increment about 30-40 cm).
• Flowering: opens at the end of April and in May, before the leaves appear or at the same time as them. It lasts about 2-3 weeks.
• Flowers: cup-shaped, elongated, distinctly fragrant. On the outside the petals are a rich purple-pink or lilac colour, on the inside they are lighter, almost white or soft pink.
• Foliage: oval, dense, of a rich dark green colour; in summer it can take on a bronze or copper tint, and in autumn it turns yellow.
