Description✦
Panicle hydrangea 'Petite Cherry' (Hydrangea paniculata 'Petite Cherry') is a charming dwarf variety that is ideal for small gardens, borders and growing in containers or planters. It is prized for its compact size and bright, long-lasting flowering.
🌿 Appearance and habit
- Bush size: Very compact, neat and rounded. The height of a mature plant is usually only 50-70 cm, with a width of about 60-80 cm.
- Shoots: Strong and rigid, they hold the large inflorescences superbly, so the bush does not fall apart even after heavy rain.
- Foliage: A rich dark green, ovate in shape, providing a beautiful contrasting backdrop for the bright flowers.
🌸 Flowering and colour change
- Flowering period: Abundant and long-lasting, from June/July to October (until the first frosts).
- Inflorescences: Large, dense, broadly conical panicles, consisting mainly of sterile florets.
- Colour transformation: The variety's main highlight is its dynamic change of shades:
- At the start of flowering the blooms have a delicate white-greenish or cream tint.
- Fairly quickly they begin to turn pink.
- At the peak of flowering and closer to autumn the bush blazes with a juicy, bright cherry or deep raspberry colour.
