Noble Fir 'Bizarro'

Noble Fir 'Bizarro' (Abies procera 'Bizarro') is a unique dwarf cultivar. It will be a real gem for lovers of unusual forms in the garden.

1. Appearance and form

• Crown: Has an irregular, often asymmetrical shape. When young it may be shrubby or spreading, and over time it takes on a broad conical form, but without a distinct leader.
• Needles: This is the main ornament of the cultivar. They are short, dense, stiff and beautifully curved upwards, revealing the underside of the needles. The colour is a rich silvery-blue or steely, which creates a very bright accent in the garden.
• Shoots: Thick, short and pointing in different directions, which gives the plant a 'shaggy' look.

Size and growth rate

• Growth: A slow-growing plant. The annual increment is only 5–10 cm.
• Dimensions: At 10 years of age the plant usually reaches 0.8–1 metre in height and roughly the same in width. A mature plant rarely exceeds 1.5–2 metres.
