Description✦
Panicle Hydrangea 'Sundae Fraise' — this is the compact 'little sister' of the famous 'Vanille Fraise' cultivar, ideally suited to small gardens or growing in containers.
- Changing shades: At the start of flowering (June–July) the inflorescences have a delicate white-green or cream colour.
- The 'strawberry ice cream' effect: Over time the flowers gradually turn pink, becoming a rich pink by the end of summer, reminiscent of berry syrup on vanilla ice cream.
- Shape of the inflorescences: Large, dense, pyramidal panicles up to 20–25 cm long.
- Compactness: The shrub is very neat, usually not exceeding 1–1.2 metres in height and width.
- Sturdy shoots: The branches are quite strong, of a reddish-brown colour, holding the heavy inflorescences well and not flopping even after rain.
