Colorado Blue Spruce 'Inversa' on a standard (Picea pungens Inversa)

An ornamental form of this coniferous tree with a weeping, umbrella-shaped crown, grafted onto a standard. Ideal for small gardens, rockeries and container growing.

• Standard height: 40–50 cm (it will not grow taller, only the crown grows outwards and downwards).
• Crown shape: Weeping, cascading. The branches fall right down to the ground, creating a striking green train.
• Foliage: Dense, stiff, prickly. The colour is a rich green with a slight glaucous tint.
• Light requirements: Sun or light partial shade (in shade it loses the density of its crown).
• Soil: Undemanding, but prefers moderately moist, drained loams or sandy loams.
• Frost resistance: High (absolutely frost-hardy across the whole of Ukraine).

Use in design: Thanks to its compact size, it makes an excellent accent in rock gardens, mixed borders, beside water features or near the entrance to a house. It looks wonderful both in solitary plantings and in compositions with other conifers and perennials.
