Japanese Barberry 'Sunbeam'

(Berberis thunbergii 'Sunbeam') — a compact deciduous shrub with an upright, columnar crown that adds light and contrast to any garden composition.

Main characteristics:

• Leaf colour: The most important advantage is the intense lemon-yellow or golden colour. Unlike many other yellow cultivars, 'Sunbeam' holds its colour well and hardly fades in the sun. In autumn the foliage takes on ornamental orange shades.
• Crown shape: Narrow, upright (columnar), very neat. Size: It grows to 1–1.2 m in height and about 50–60 cm in width. It grows moderately fast.
• Light: Requires a sunny spot. It is precisely in full sun that the colour becomes the most saturated. In shade the foliage turns lime-green or simply green.
• Winter hardiness: High. The cultivar is adapted to the Ukrainian climate and overwinters beautifully without cover.
