Nordmann Fir 'Aurea'

Caucasian (Nordmann) Fir Aurea (Abies nordmanniana 'Aurea') is a true aristocrat among conifers. If the Korean fir Aurea is a compact shrub, then the Nordmann Aurea is a majestic tree with a bright, 'sunny' look.

Here are its main characteristics:

• Needles: Long (up to 3–4 cm), soft and glossy. Its main charm is the intense golden-yellow colour, which is retained throughout the year but is brightest on the young growth in spring. The inner part of the crown may remain greenish.
• Crown shape: Classic pyramidal, very dense and symmetrical. The branches are arranged in tiers, which gives the tree a very neat appearance.
• Bark: Smooth and grey, becoming decoratively fissured with age.
